Crime Surpasses National Average in South Carolina
RoadSnacks has listed the most dangerous cities in South Carolina for 2024. They studied FBI data from 53 cities and found high levels of crime like robberies and shootings surpassing the national average. Problems like drug abuse and not enough good jobs seem to be making things worse. Even crime is a big worry in small towns. According to the news report of Southwest Journal, Americans need to be careful in these areas as they are labeled as most dangerous cities overshadowing the state’s friendly reputation.

Greenwood
In the city of Greenwood there are parties like the Festival of Discovery and the Festival of Flowers Greenwood ranks sixth for violent crime in South Carolina with lots of cases of rape happening. Violence happens almost every day making it a scary place to live.
Myrtle Beach
Myrtle Beach is a fun spot for vacation but there’s trouble lurking. Violent crime is down but there’s a lot of theft and damage happening. A lady named Sylvia Gray was killed at the Bermuda Sands Motel last 2016. Myrtle Beach is trying hard to fight crime but it’s tough.
Spartanburg
Spartanburg is up in the northwest and has a problem with burglaries. Americans try to protect nature at Hatcher Garden but they still have to deal with break-ins almost every day. It’s not easy to stay safe in Spartanburg with all this crime going on.
Florence
In Florence, right in the Pee Dee region there’s a lot of sadness because of crime. Burglaries happen a lot like someone breaking into a home almost every day. A local lawyer got in trouble for a bad crime and shocked everybody.
Darlington
Darlington is a city known for tobacco and fast car races but it’s also known for crime. Lots of stuff gets stolen especially cars making it the third most dangerous city in South Carolina.
Orangeburg
Orangeburg is called “The Garden City” but it’s not all nice. It has good colleges but it’s the most violent city in South Carolina. The Orangeburg Massacre in 1968 was a terrible event during the Civil Rights movement showing how rough things can get.
