Last December 15, a one-time bonus check worth $1,500 was received by qualified educators from Fort Smith Public School (FSPS) in Arkansas just in time for the Christmas holidays. According to the institution, the qualified educators were given a bonus for all the hard work they have done for the academy amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

The academy regarded this bonus as a small token of gratitude for the educators who went above and beyond to teach amidst the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic. The academy believed that the teachers’ hardest task was how they adapted to remote teaching and discovered new ways to make their students engage in an online class.

Who is qualified for this one-time bonus?

According to Notheis, this one-time bonus check was available to all the veteran educators from Fort Smith Public School. These included classroom teachers, adult education teachers, interventionists, instructional specialists, and special education coordinators. School administrators like principals or assistant principals were also qualified. However, administrators at the district level like the department directors were not qualified for this bonus.

This bonus was authorized by the school board around early May and should have been received by the teachers and other qualified staff last December 15. Aside from this bonus, teachers can also look forward to an increase in their annual salary, with the veteran teachers receiving a smaller increase than the new ones.
