A New York nurse was fired after allegedly slamming a 2-day-old baby onto a bassinet. To date, further investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
A baby named Nikko has recently been born and delivered at Good Samaritan University Hospital on Long Island, New York. Nikko was two days old when he was given antibiotics at the hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Reports say, Fidel Sinclair, Nikko’s father, heard the baby crying as he was being treated in the NICU.According to Mion, when Sinclair went to check on the baby, he saw a nurse slam him face down into a bassinet. The nursery’s window reportedly had curtains drawn back, but Sinclair was, fortunately, able to capture a video. In the video, the New York nurse was seen picking baby Nikko up, flipping him over, and slamming him face down into a bassinet.

New York Nurse Fired
According to Balevic, the Catholic Health, which is in charge of the hospital, stated that they took an immediate action in response to the video taken by terminating the New York nurse involved. The incident was reportedly being investigated by the Special Victims Section of the Suffolk County Police Department. In addition, the New York nurse was also reported to the Department of Health for further assessment.
Regarding the curtains being drawn, the Catholic Health explained that it is their standard procedure to guarantee the privacy of the patients and their families. Nonetheless, immediately family members are allowed inside the NICU to spend time and take care of their loved ones.
