Up To $1,000 Pay Raise For St. Tammany School Teachers And Staff

On Thursday, the School Board of St. Tammany Parish School unanimously approved pay raises for its district employees. Community members, parents, and school employees are in so much joy as they heard the news.

St. Tammany School staff can expect an increase of up to $700 while teachers will expect a $1,000 pay increase.

It can be remembered that over the past weeks, concerns and frustrations from staff have scattered on social media, and when a meeting was conducted people voices out their concerns regarding staff shortages that fall into the critical level.

So, this news is great news for staff and teachers as they will need the extra money in their daily life and to fight the rising prices that they face right now.

Frank Jabbia, the St. Tammny School Superintendent has told the board that this step is the best that they can do to be responsible. He added that this step is also making sure that they will give their best to their employees.

Jabbia’s contract was also extended until June 2027 as voted by the School Board. Remarkably, Frank Jabbia began his term in the fall of 2020 and he replaced the former Superintendent Trey Folse who left a role with the Education Department.

According to Terri Prevost, the School district’s Chief Financial Officer, other districts have already seen an increase in their premiums on health insurance but St. Tammany remains the same and doesn’t have an increase.

A disbursement schedule has not been announced by the state according to Prevost, but teachers will receive a stipend amounting to $2,000 that was adopted by the state Legislature last month. On the other hand, the $2,000 stipend is not a permanent increase in their salaries.
