$5,000 Payment Guaranteed For Bay Bridge Data Breach – See Eligibility!

Americans Can Claim Up to $5,000

How to Receive Up to $5,000 from the Bay Bridge Data Breach Class Action Settlement

According to The US Sun, Americans affected by a data breach involving Bay Bridge administrators could receive up to $5,000 as part of a $2.5 million class action lawsuit settlement. The incident occurred in September 2022 when an unauthorized third party allegedly accessed sensitive personal information stored on Bay Bridge’s network. This data included names, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and medical information of employees from Bay Bridge customers. Bay Bridge denies any wrongdoing but has agreed to settle the lawsuit. To be eligible for a claim individuals must have received a notification letter about the security incident. Those who did can file for compensation under two settlement benefits. The first covers out-of-pocket losses reimbursing claimants up to $5,000 for documented expenses directly related to the breach. Alternatively, claimants can opt for a pro-rata cash payment estimated at $50. This amount might change based on the total number of claims and the remaining settlement funds after covering out-of-pocket losses.

Claim forms need to be submitted or postmarked by July 24, 2024. Those who do nothing will not receive any payment. Americans who wish to exclude themselves from the settlement can do so by submitting a request for exclusion by June 24, 2024. The rise in data breaches especially with companies increasingly using cloud storage is a significant concern. According to the Harvard Business Review, data breaches spiked last year with over 60% of corporate data now stored in the cloud. Many breaches result from companies misusing cloud technology such as allowing excessively permissive access leaving ports unrestricted and using unsecured backups. Class action lawsuits like this one allow groups of people, or ‘classes’ to collectively bring a case to court. These suits are often initiated by one or a few individuals on behalf of a larger group. When a suit becomes a class action it includes all Americans with similar complaints. Companies frequently settle these cases to avoid the high costs of prolonged litigation often denying any wrongdoing as part of the settlement.

Americans Eligible for Payments from Recent Costco and Microwave Data Breach Settlements

Furthermore, other recent settlements include a $2 million settlement involving Costco’s Kirkland products and another $2 million settlement related to microwaves with Americans eligible to claim payments from these as well. The increase in data breaches and subsequent class action settlements highlights the growing need for better data security measures as more businesses rely on cloud storage.
