Judge Murray Snow Reluctant to Halt Government Tax Collection on Arizona Rebates Amid Filing Season Concerns

Judge Murray Snow stated in a court meeting on Tuesday that he is not prepared to forbid taxes to be collected by the government on a refund that Arizona provided last year. He believes Arizona may be able to ensure that taxpayers only pay taxes on the portion of the rebate that exceeds their state tax payments. Although the judge appeared to be leaning more toward Arizona’s position during the discussion, he is unlikely to immediately block the government’s tax collection efforts due to the potential disruption to the filing season.
