In a report from NBC News, Henry Ruggs III, a former wide receiver for the Las Vegas Raiders, was found guilty of drunk driving in a fatal collision in 2021 and was given a sentence on Wednesday ranging from three to ten years in jail.
In May, Ruggs entered a plea of guilty to felony DUI causing death and misdemeanor manslaughter in the Las Vegas accident.
On November 2, 2021, in the wee hours of the morning, Ruggs slammed his Corvette into Tina Tintor’s Toyota RAV4 at a speed of 156 mph while intoxicated. Tina Tintor, 23, was killed.
The medical examiner’s office reported that she passed away from thermal burns sustained when the car took fire. The accident also claimed the life of her dog.
Attorneys for Ruggs stated in a statement that the former NFL player was ready to complete his sentence and resume giving back to his community.
According to the statement, Mr. Ruggs has admitted guilt, accepted responsibility for his deeds, and the court has now condemned him. Today in court, Mr. Ruggs expressed his heartfelt sorrow over Ms. Tintor’s passing and the effect it has had on her loved ones.

Ruggs had a blood alcohol level of 0.16 percent at the time of the collision
The fact that Ruggs had a blood alcohol level of 0.16 percent at the time of the collision, which is twice the legal limit in Nevada, was one of the evidences that Ruggs’ attorneys battled to keep from being included in the trial. The lawyers ultimately failed to overturn Ruggs’ opposition to the arrangement.
NY Daily News said Djordje Tintor, Tintor’s older brother, expressed how grieved his family was by her untimely passing. According to her brother, she began working from home as a customer service representative for an insurance provider with the hopes of pursuing a career in computer programming.
Tintor, a Serbian immigrant who had completed her high school education in Las Vegas, was on the verge of becoming a citizen of the United States.
The Raiders selected Ruggs out of Alabama in the 2020 NFL Draft, but he was released just hours after the fatal collision.
