Up to $500 monthly direct payments from a guaranteed income program in Sacramento, California is giving its second set of payments to eligible residents.

The monthly direct payments were launched last 2021 and provide $300 monthly to 100 households. But sadly, the payment has come to an end and a new set of households will be the recipients, The U.S. Sun reported.
Qualifying households received $500 per month last July 1. This program is funded by Mayor Darrel Steinberg and run by the United Way California Capital Region. A $750,000 budget was used from American Rescue Plan Act.
How to qualify for the $500 monthly direct payments?
You need to apply first because it is required for the monthly direct payments. The deadline was set for April 15. You need to be living in Sacramento and must meet the income requirements.
Single adults must make less than $28,205 to qualify for the monthly direct payments. Adults with one child must make less than $49,945; adults with two children $65,880; adults with three children $79,500; for two adults $43,201; two adults with two children $64,273; household of five must make less than $93,120; household of six 106,740; household of seven $120,360; and lastly for a household of eight $133,980.

Participants needed to prepare their proof of income and show it to United Way. Eligible residents are selected through a lottery process. The United Way said that if they qualify and participate in the program, it can affect their eligibility for other public benefits.
The United Way is now taking steps to lessen the possible effect on the residents when they avail of the monthly direct payments.
