An unidentified SUV driver allegedly hit a crowd of pedestrians outside a migrant shelter in Brownsville, Texas. Following the incident, the death toll has risen to eight and eleven individuals have been injured.
On May 7, at around 8:30 a.m., a crowd of pedestrians was waiting at a city bus stop next to Ozanam Center, a shelter for migrants and homeless people in Brownsville, Texas. Reports say it was during this time when an SUV driver crashed his vehicle into the pedestrians. The Brownsville Police Department states that 8 individuals have died at the scene and all of them were migrants.On the other hand, an article in Fox News states that 11 individuals have been injured and were immediately transported to hospitals around the area. Authorities state that the unidentified SUV driver, who was confirmed to be Hispanic, had been arrested and charged with reckless driving. More charges are still likely to be filed, given that the incident appeared to be intentional.

SUV Driver Still Unidentified
According to an article in CBS News, the authorities have not released any further information about the unidentified SUV driver yet. However, to date, he is reportedly receiving medical treatment at a hospital around Brownsville and is under round-the-clock supervision. Furthermore, the suspect will be tested for drugs and alcohol as well.
Reports say the incident that involved the SUV driver came less than 24 hours after a gunman opened fire at a mall in Allen, Texas. The shooting incident reportedly killed 8 individuals as well and injured 7 others. However, it is still not clear whether the crash had any connection to the shooting.
