Accoring to Washington Times, the way the U.S. military operates is changing a lot because of new computer technology called artificial intelligence (AI). This means that instead of human oversight in the defense department making all the decisions computers are helping out more. Craig Martell, who works with technology for the military talked about this at a meeting. He said that while human oversight in the defense department will still be responsible for using these new technologies, their job will be different. Now, computers are helping with tasks that people used to do all by themselves.

Empowering Soldiers with AI Training
The Department of Defense is training soldiers to use AI through programs led by MIT Horizon ensuring they can effectively utilize these new tools. Philip O’Connell emphasized the importance of soldiers understanding AI for effective implementation. Despite concerns about AI potentially overshadowing human oversight in the defense department, Martell assured that the military prioritizes human oversight in defense department decision-making through thorough training and collaboration with experts aiming to harness AI‘s benefits while maintaining human control.
