Tulsa, the cultural center of northeastern Oklahoma, has secured the top spot as the most dangerous city in Oklahoma for 2023. With 72 murders reported in 2020, Tulsa claims the second-highest violent crime rate in Oklahoma. Residents face a 1 in 88 chance of becoming victims of robbery, rape, assault, or murder, making certain neighborhoods particularly worrisome.

The city also grapples with significant property crime rates, especially burglaries, with a staggering 4,407 cases reported in 2020. This marks Tulsa as having the second-highest burglary rate statewide.

  1. Idabel

Crime rates in Idabel, unlike many American cities, are on an upward trajectory making it one of the most dangerous cities in Oklahoma. Both violent and property crimes have been on the rise in recent years. With the highest property crime rate in the state, Idabel’s residents faced a 1 in 15 chance of experiencing theft or damage in 2020. The city’s property crime rate surpasses even its overall crime rate.

Despite ranking fourth in terms of violence, Idabel reports concerning rates of rape and murder, making it imperative for residents to remain cautious.

  1. Anadarko

Ironically, Anadarko‘s name arose from a clerical error, but the town faces more significant challenges. Located about 50 miles southwest of Oklahoma City, Anadarko ranks as the third of the most dangerous cities in Oklahoma this year. High rates of larceny, burglary, and violent crimes plague this central Oklahoma community.
