From the latest news released by Spidle, residents have until July 28 to pay their taxes before having their names posted in The Meridian Star. For individuals who are still owed money, names will be made public on August 8 and August 15. The MS.

Tax on Land Sale

Residents have until August 18 to pay their taxes in order to keep their property out of the land sale.

The annual land sales are claims against the properties rather than actual property sales. The unpaid property taxes are paid by bidders at the land auction in exchange for a tax lien. MERIDIANSTAR

The property owner has two years to pay the initial tax amount plus interest and costs in order to reclaim the property. In addition to the monthly property tax payment, those who have a tax lien on the property are entitled to 1.5% interest.

Mark Your Calendars: Tax Land Sale Set for August 28!

Registration for the auction will go live at govease.com on August 1 for individuals interested in placing a bid on foreclosed properties. Beginning on August 1, those who are not familiar with the registration procedure may also take part in a registration training.

“It is not permitted to use a comparable sale or any other tax base. Additionally, revenue agents or staff members are not permitted to provide any other justification for the imposition of capital gains tax, income tax, or withholding tax on the sale, exchange, or dispose of real estate.” P&A GRANTTHORNTON.

At 8:30 a.m. marks the start of the yearly land sale. beginning on August 28 and going on until all homes are sold.
