Ryan Kelley pleaded guilty to the misdemeanor charges that stemmed from his participation in the U.S. Capitol riot in January 2021. Reports say the former Michigan governor candidate illegally entered a restricted area during the attack.

On January 6, 2021, former Michigan governor candidate Ryan Kelley, came to the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. to protest the victory of U.S. President Joe Biden in the 2020 election. Reports say the former Michigan governor candidate joined the “Stop the Steal” crowd that rallied to the Capitol.

An article in Fox News states that the former Michigan governor candidate climbed a part of a building outside the Capitol and urged the other rioters to move toward the building. In addition, the former Michigan governor candidate allegedly removed a covering that had been set up for Biden’s inauguration.

Former Michigan Governor Candidate Pleaded Guilty

According to Reilly, on July 27, the former Michigan governor candidate pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of illegally entering a restricted area during the U.S. Capitol riot. The former Michigan governor candidate’s trial was initially scheduled to begin on July 31, but he reached a plea agreement with the federal prosecutors. Nonetheless, to date, the former Michigan governor candidate is scheduled to be sentenced on October 17.
