The Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, designed to boost clean energy and lower energy costs is progressing with its Home Energy Rebates program. As of May 29, 2024 seventeen states have applied for these rebates which aim to save households money and create jobs. Here’s a brief overview of each state’s application status and funding, according to the report of Go Banking Rates.

17 States’ Application Status and Funding Overview as of May 2024

  1. Arizona applied on March 21, 2024, with a state allocation of $153 million. It requested $78 million and received $3.5 million to start energy-efficient projects.
  2. California submitted its application on January 12, 2024, with a $582 million allocation. It requested $293 million and received nearly $5 million to begin its programs.
  3. Colorado applied on March 26, 2024, with a $140 million allocation. It requested $72 million and was awarded $3.5 million to start energy-saving initiatives.
  4. Georgia, applying on March 22, 2024, was allocated $219 million. It requested the full amount and received $5 million to launch its projects.
  5. Hawaii submitted its application on December 29, 2023, with a $68 million allocation. It requested $34 million and received $631,024 to start its energy efficiency programs.
  6. Indiana applied on March 15, 2024, with an allocation of $182 million. It requested the full amount and received $2.3 million to begin its projects.
  7. Maine applied on April 30, 2024, with a $71.6 million allocation, requesting the full amount. It is awaiting initial funding to start its initiatives.
  8. Massachusetts, applying on May 23, 2024, was allocated $146 million. It requested the full amount and received $5 million to start its programs.
  9. Michigan applied on May 23, 2024, with a $211 million allocation. It requested the full amount and received $5 million to initiate its projects.
  10. Minnesota submitted its application on March 22, 2024, with a $148 million allocation. It requested $75 million and received $1.9 million to begin its energy-saving efforts.
  11. New Hampshire applied on March 22, 2024, with a $70 million allocation. It requested $35 million and received $568,000 to start its projects.
  12. New Mexico submitted applications on December 21, 2023, and March 4, 2023. With an $88 million allocation, it requested the full amount and received $2.2 million to start its programs.
  13. New York’s application was approved on April 15, 2024. With a $317 million allocation, it requested $161 million and was awarded the full amount to begin its initiatives.
  14. Oregon applied on March 27, 2024, with a $114 million allocation. It requested the full amount and received $1.4 million to start its energy efficiency programs.
  15. Rhode Island applied on May 9, 2024, with a $64 million allocation. It requested $33 million and received $1.6 million to launch its projects.
  16. Washington submitted its application on March 20, 2024, with a $166 million allocation. It requested $85 million and received over $2 million to start its initiatives.
  17. Wisconsin applied on May 4, 2024, with a $149 million allocation. It requested the full amount and received $2.5 million to begin its energy rebate programs.
