This happened because the company misled doctors about the safety of a drug called Opana ER with INTAC. It’s the second-largest fine ever given to a drug company for breaking the law. Endo Health Solutions Inc. had already declared bankruptcy before this decision.
The company admitted that its sales managers and representatives were telling doctors that Opana ER was safe from abuse and tampering, even though it wasn’t true. They even showed fake demonstrations, like hitting sample pills with hammers, to make it look like the drug couldn’t be crushed or tampered with.
