Allstate Agrees to $25 Million Settlement Over Alleged Unapproved Rate Factors
Allstate Settles Allegations, Agrees to $25 Million Payout in California Premium Rate Case
Significantly, well-known insurance provider Allstate consented to pay $25 million settlement to resolve allegations regarding its methodology for setting rates for comprehensive coverage in California. Customers claimed Allstate pushed rates higher than necessary by using unapproved criteria. Though they resolved the case, Allstate refused to acknowledge any wrongdoing.
The settlement may result in financial compensation for certain Californians who were Allstate clients from July 2016 to September 2022. Qualifying individuals included those with specific forms of coverage and long-term Allstate auto insurance. If someone meets the requirements, the funds will be transferred automatically to their insurance account as a credit or as a cheque in the mail.
Final Settlement Decision Approaching: Payments Expected by Year’s End
In May 2024, a final settlement decision will be reached. Payments may then be made prior to the year’s end. Anyone can get in touch with the administrator by phone or email if they have any issues concerning the settlement. This settlement provides a means of compensation for impacted customers and demonstrates that businesses must abide by regulations when determining prices.
