Oscar-Nominated Actor Michael Lerner Passed Away at the Age of 81

Michael Lerner, best known for his role in ‘Barton Fink’, has passed away at the age of 81.

Michael Lerner, A Legend Lost

Michael Lerner‘s family announced last Sunday that the actor passed away, at the age of 81. Lerner’s nephew Sam announced the disheartening news through an Instagram post, saying that “We lost a legend last night.” The post contained several photos featuring Michael Lerner throughout the years of his existence. One photo featured Lerner with Eddie Murphy, a well-known comedian.

Sam’s post continues with a short speech about how Michael Lerner influenced him in his lifetime, describing how things were better with Lerner around. Sam also shared how Lerner made him “fall in love with acting.”

Sam concluded his post with, “RIP Michael, enjoy your unlimited Cuban cigars, comfy chairs, and endless movie marathon.” With how Sam described Michael Lerner’s passing, we indeed lost a legend. Rest in peace, Michael.

Michael Lerner’s Acting Career Throughout the Years

Michael Lerner was nominated for an Oscar for his role in the movie Barton Fink way back in 1992 under the Best Supporting Actor category. He played Jack Lipnick in the Coen brothers’ psychological thriller in 1991.

Lerner also starred in the movie Elf in 2003, playing Fulton Greenway. He also had roles in Newsies, Blank Check, For Richer or Poorer, Harlem Nights, Celebrity, A Serious Man, and The Mod Squad.

Michael Lerner also had TV roles in The Good Guys, Law and Order, Ironside, The Brady Bunch, Glee, M*A*S*H, and SVU.
