Authorities in Miami County, Ohio, have finally completed the cold case about the savage murder and dismemberment of 43-year-old Daisy Shelton, ending sixty years of mystery. The breakthrough occurred when prosecutor Anthony Kendell authorized the closure, citing corroborating evidence and a confession from a deceased suspect that showed beyond a reasonable doubt who the killer was. The case had been cold since June 1964 when Shelton’s remains were found strewn across many waterways, but it came back to life in 2017 when a witness told a nurse vital information out of concern for his own life when he was in the hospital.

Eyewitness Account Reveals Horrifying Murder Scene: Witness Describes Cruel Killing of Daisy Shelton with Hammer in Dayton Home

In a report of True Crime Daily, the witness described seeing Shelton murdered, according to the Miami County Sheriff’s Office. She described a horrifying scenario in which Shelton was beaten down with a hammer and then severed in a Dayton residence. The suspect eventually confirmed knowing Shelton and his role in relocating her remains, despite his earlier protestations. But closure for Shelton’s family is tempered with the sad knowledge that justice if belated, has finally been served because the suspect died at the age of ninety-two before being charged.
