Construction Worker Recounts Terrifying Encounter as Rifle Rampager Receives 15-Year Sentence
John Terrell Wilkins, 32, got a 15-year jail term for shooting at construction workers in Superior, Colorado, last year. Wilkins agreed to plead guilty to a lesser charge of second-degree attempted murder after facing many serious accusations like trying to kill people and using a gun unlawfully. At the hearing on Friday, witnesses described the scary incident, with one worker, Rick Davis, explaining how close the bullets came to hitting him.
Judge Acknowledges Efforts of Shooter to Reform, Sentences Him to Prison
Although Wilkins made an effort to change his life by stopping his drinking and attending counseling, the judge stated that what he did was extremely frightening for the victims. However, the judge also highlighted Wilkins’ apparent sincere efforts to improve. In the hopes that Wilkins will change for the better when he returns to society, he will be imprisoned and then required to abide by laws upon his release.
