Portland Police Arrest Suspect in California for January Shooting

Portland Police Bureau announced on Friday that a 32 year old California man from Portland was arrested for a deadly shooting that happened on January 8 in the southeast Portland Hazelwood neighborhood. Xavier V. Lucas was arrested on February 22 in Hesperia, California for the murder of 30 year old Deshawn Pledger from Portland. Pledger was found dead from a gunshot wound on Southeast 106th Avenue during a welfare check.

Detectives identified Xavier V. Lucas a California man as a suspect in the shooting during the investigation. Last weeks officers from the United States Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force arrested him and took him to the San Bernardino County West Valley Detention Center in Rancho Cucamonga, California. He is now waiting to be brought back to Oregon to face charges of second-degree murder and felon in possession of a firearm.
