Cleveland Man Charged in Deadly Shooting for a 10-Year-Old
On October 14, Hunter, 20, reportedly fired several rounds into a car on Fairport Avenue in Cleveland’s Forest Hills area where a Cleveland Man Charged in deadly shooting the 10-year-old child who was riding with her mother. The Cuyahoga County Prosecutor’s Office reported a gunshot wounding the girl’s leg.
On Monday, Hunter was charged with felonious assault, firearm discharge on or near banned premises, evidence tampering, and receiving stolen goods. Court documents show an SCCY 9mm pistol was taken.
Hunter’s legal history makes his case more problematic. Hunter pled guilty to felony firearms charges three months before the October 2023 shooting for possessing an American Tactical AR-15 rifle at East Tech High School.

Clarity Sought on Jamar Hunter’s Previous Weapons Charge
Hunter, 18, pleaded guilty to a fifth-degree felony for possessing an AR-15 in a school safety zone in April 2023. He may face a six- to 12-month jail sentence. His punishment is uncertain because the court docket record does not indicate a jail term or community control.
Hunter was ordered to lose the firearm, pay a $250 fine, and pay court costs by Judge Shirley Strickland Saffold. The circumstances of probable incarceration are unclear.
19 Investigates sought clarity from the Cuyahoga County Common Pleas Court and prosecutor’s office concerning Hunter’s punishment. The probe seeks to clarify Hunter’s weapons-related criminal penalties.
