However, beneath the surface, the city grapples with complex issues, notably visible in its crime statistics.

Saint Joseph, a residential fragment of Sherman Park, witnessed 7,874 crimes in 2020, indicating that even suburbs at the city’s edge are not immune to the challenges within The Brew City. Brookfield, with a population of nearly 38,000, reported 13,292 crimes, showcasing the city’s contrasts where safety perceptions vary from block to block in The Brew City.

Franklin Heights, with approximately one-third of its population living below the poverty line, reported 10,803 crimes in 2020, revealing significant challenges within The Brew City. Topping the list, North Division, despite its green spaces, reported 10,914 crimes, emphasizing the need to address prevalent assault and theft cases in the neighborhood within The Brew City.
