Americans are about to receive an amount of $2,500 in direct payments that will be automatically sent to eligible residents in Montana.
$2,500 in Direct Payments
Americans across the country started to receive direct payments from the local government in direct payments through tax rebates and tax refunds. The state of Montana will send an amount of up to $2,500 in direct payments at the end of this month.
In a published article in The Washington Examiner, eligible single taxpayers will receive an amount of $1,250, while married couples jointly filing together will receive $2,500. The rebates will be based on the 2021 personal income tax return.
How to Qualify?
According to a published article in The Gazette, not all will qualify in the direct payments, but here are some of the qualifications:
- A Montana taxpayer must have been a resident for the entire 2021 tax year
- Filed tax returns for 2020 and 2021 on time
- Not be claimed as a dependent on someone else’s tax forms
- Had a figure greater than zero on line 20 of their 2021 return
Furthermore, Gov. Greg Gianforte said, “Montanans overpaid their taxes, and we’re giving it back. I look forward to getting this money back into Montanans’ pockets where it belongs.”
