Davidson County is experiencing problems in distributing the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits or Food Stamps, but when are they going to receive the aid?

SNAP Benefits in Davidson County

The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits have helped millions of Americans across the country to meet their daily needs and buy nutritious food. However, millions have not received their SNAP benefits due to some problems experienced by the assigned agency.

In a published article in FOX8, the Department of Social Services in Davidson County is now pulling people from other departments to help them process the documents and massive backlog. The county is about six weeks behind in processing recertifications and new applications.

Executive Director at Fairgrove Family Resource Center Released a Statement

According to a published article in THE DISPATCH, Terri Fisher, the executive director at Fairgrove Family Resource Center in Thomasville, said, “So many of the new families we are seeing have never been to our center before, and they are asking for help because their food stamps have been delayed.”

There is an increase of people coming to the different pantries. In Fairgrove Family Resource Center, an estimated 63 new people came compared to 11 new people last year. Likewise, 728 people relied on the pantry last month compared to 399 people last year.
