Larry Mikoloyck Received Probation in an Animal Cruelty Case

A 76-year-old man named Larry E. Mikoloyck has received a probation sentence as part of a plea deal in a neglect and animal cruelty case. According to The North Plate Telegraph, Mikoloyck pleaded guilty to five counts of misdemeanor attempted abandonment or cruel neglect of livestock. As a result of the plea deal, five felony counts were reduced, and another five were dropped.

Matthew Mikoloyck, Larry’s son, who is also involved in the animal cruelty case, is set to appear in court on October 16th.

Reports stated that this animal cruelty case came to light when the Lincoln County Sheriff’s office found over 150 dead cattle in February, along with more than 1,000 malnourished ones on their Logan County ranch.

Animal Cruelty Case Sentencing and Detailed Reports

District Judge Michael Piccolo sentenced Mikoloyck to 18 months of probation with a key condition: he is not allowed to have any non-domesticated animals during this period. An agreement was also reached for Mikoloyck to remove a small number of sheep from his custody within 28 days, as reported.

Details revealed a distressing situation, with deceased cattle found alongside live ones, raising concerns about predators and disease. Multiple reports from residents indicated that cattle often escaped from the ranch. A flyover by the Nebraska State Patrol identified deceased cattle, and evidence was collected, including a severed cow’s leg in Matthew Mikoloyck’s section. The cattle on the property were visibly malnourished, with their spines, hips, and ribs visible through their winter coats.
