The unnamed Chester County prison guard was fired over the escape of convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante in Pennsylvania. Reports say the escape of Cavalcante was similar to the escape of another inmate at the same prison last May.
On September 7, county spokesperson Michelle Bjork announced that an unnamed Chester County prison guard was fired after missing the escape of convicted murderer Danelo Cavalcante, 34, on the morning of August 31. Furthermore, Bjork also stated that the Chester County prison guard worked at the prison for 18 years as a correction officer. An article in BBC states that the Chester County prison guard was on duty in a watchtower when Cavalcante was seen in a surveillance video crab-walking a wall in the exercise yard. Thereafter, Cavalcante allegedly broke through a razor wire fence, ran across a roof, climbed another fence, and then broke through more razor wire fence before finally being able to escape the prison.

According to Sabes, during a press conference on September 6, officials announced that Cavalcante’s escape from prison was similar to the escape of Igor Bolt, 30, at the same prison on May 19. Fortunately, Bolt was discovered by a jail tower officer within five minutes and was taken back into custody. Reports say after Bolt’s attempt to escape, several security consultants made improvements including additional razor wire fences to block access to the roof.
