A block party in Indiana turned into a scene of horror when a mass shooting took place, leaving one person dead and 17 others injured. The mass shooting suspect, identified as 36-year-old John L. Vance, has been arrested by authorities in Muncie and faces charges.

The mass shooting suspect, identified as 36-year-old John L. Vance, has been arrested by authorities in Muncie on suspicion of several unspecified felonies related to the attack and faces charges.
According to Fox News, the mass shooting took place during the early hours of Sunday in the city of Muncie, located approximately 60 miles northeast of Indianapolis. The gathering, hosted by the owner of a business that occasionally rents out space for events, quickly spiraled out of control as the crowd swelled to between 500 and 1,000 attendees.
Muncie Police Chief Nathan Sloan described the party as having gotten “out of control,” with the situation becoming increasingly dangerous as the number of people in attendance grew. Photos from the scene revealed numerous police tags marking bullet casings scattered across the streets.
Authorities attempted to contact the owner of the venue to end the festivities, but before they could intervene the sound of gunfire erupted. Among the victims of the mass shooting suspect was 30-year-old Joseph E. Bonner III, who lost his life during the incident.
The Muncie Police Department is urging any witnesses to the shooting or individuals with pictures or videos of the incident to come forward and aid in the ongoing investigation. Chief Sloan mentioned that some individuals at the scene were unwilling to cooperate with law enforcement, hindering their efforts to piece together the events that transpired.

Indiana Mass Shooting Suspect Faces Charges
At this time, the authorities have not released detailed information regarding the motive behind the shooting or the number of individuals involved in firing weapons.
As the investigation progresses, evidence will be presented to the Delaware County Prosecutor’s office, possibly leading to additional charges against the mass shooting suspect.

Three victims are currently in stable condition at hospitals in Indianapolis, while another four are being treated at Ball Memorial Hospital in Muncie.
