A clever 13-year-old girl in Long Beach, California saved herself in the hands of a 61-year-old pedophile from Cleburne, Texas using a “Help Me!” sign.
Steven, Robert Sablan, who was previously convicted multiple times, forced the 13-year-old girl in his Nissan Sentra on July 6 in San Antonio, Texas using a handgun.
A report from People says that after the kidnapping, Sablan asked how old the girl is to which she answered she was 13 years old and mentioned having a friend to visit in Australia.
Sablan told the 13-year-old girl he would take her to her friend in exchange for sexual engagement with him, but despite the resistance, Sablan didn’t stop molesting the 13-year-old girl.
According to a USA TODAY report, Sablan sexually assaulted the 13-year-old girl two more times over the next two days while he drove from Texas to California.
When Sablan decided to stop at a laundromat in Long Beach on July 9 to wash their clothes, the 13-year-old girl took her chance to write the “Help Me!” sign.
The “Good Samaritans” did not hesitate to call 9-1-1 to attend to the situation, which is why around 10 a.m., the Long Beach police immediately arrived at the scene.

Steven Sablan’s Criminal Charges
Sablan was taken into custody for possessing a replica firearm resembling a semi-automatic pistol. On July 31, Sablan is scheduled to be prosecuted in the United States. Downtown Los Angeles’s District Court. If found guilty, Sablan may receive a life sentence, according to USA TODAY.
