Connecticut Apartment Shooting Leaves 1 Dead, 3 Injured

The Connecticut apartment shooting incident occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, just south of downtown Hartford. Police revealed on Sunday that they believe multiple individuals participated in the shooting, which appeared to be connected to an attempted robbery, U.S. News reported.

Law enforcement officials announced on Sunday that a man who was among the Connecticut apartment shooting victims will be charged with attempted murder, home invasion, and other related offenses.

Carlos Frank-Nieves, a 33-year-old resident of Philadelphia, will face charges once he is discharged from the hospital and transferred to the police station lockup, according to authorities. A judge signed an arrest warrant for Frank-Nieves and ordered him to be detained on $3 million bail.

The deceased victim was identified as Joseph Vargas-Mercado, also from Philadelphia.

Frank-Nieves, the injured teenager, and another man were listed in critical condition as of late Saturday. At this time, it remains unclear whether Frank-Nieves has retained legal representation to address the allegations against him.

The 17-year-old girl, suffering critical injuries, was rushed to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center for treatment. Two other victims of the Connecticut apartment shooting were transported to Hartford Hospital, where one tragically succumbed to their injuries, while the other remains in critical condition.
