The family of one of the victims of the Idaho student murders found a way to celebrate her birthday on May 25. Madison Mogen’s family announced the “Maddie May Day” encouraging people to be kind in memory of her.

The family of Madison Mogen, then 21, one of the four victims of the Idaho student murders, found a way to celebrate her birthday yesterday, May 25. Earlier this month, Mogen’s family announced the “Maddie May Day” which encouraged people to do random acts of kindness in memory of the victim.

An article in Fox News states that the “Maddie May Day” spread across social media sites where hashtags and inspirational stories of people doing good deeds were shared. Some of these stories include a donation to a charity made in Mogen’s name, a granddaughter bringing a surprise bouquet to her grandmother’s work, donuts and other treats bought for colleagues, and more.

According to Ruiz, on November 13, 2022, Mogen was killed at an off-campus house near the University of Idaho. Along with Mogen, three other victims were killed in the Idaho student murders incident which includes Ethan Chapin, 20; Xana Kernodle, 20; and Kaylee Goncalves, 21.

The Idaho student murders suspect was eventually identified as Bryan Kohberger, 28. Reports say Kohberger was a former Ph.D. student who was studying criminology at Washington State University. Several weeks after the incident, he was arrested and faced charges of four counts of first-degree murder.
