On May 22, during his arraignment, Bryan Kohberger, 28, did not respond when a judge asked him how he pleaded to the charges filed against him. After remaining silent, the judge was impelled to enter not guilty pleas on the Idaho student murders suspect’s behalf.

An article in CBS News states that the charges filed against Kohberger include one count of burglary and four counts of first-degree murder. Reportedly, the Idaho student murders suspect was indicted by a grand jury last week.

According to Ruiz, prosecutors stated that the Idaho student murders occurred in the early morning of November 13, 2022. Kohberger allegedly broke into a house off-campus and stabbed Ethan Chapin, 20; Xana Kernodle, 20; Kaylee Goncalves, 21; and Madison Mogen, 21, to death.

After a large-scale investigation, the Idaho student murders suspect was arrested almost 7 weeks later at his family’s house in Pennsylvania. Prosecutors presented different pieces of evidence such as DNA traces found on a knife sheath that matched Kohberger and surveillance video showing a vehicle similar to Kohberger’s.

However, while authorities have discovered several potential pieces of evidence from Kohberger’s apartment, no murder weapon has apparently been obtained. This means that the lack of a weapon and a clear motive may possibly cause challenges to the prosecution’s case.
