Manhunt for Francisco Oropeza in Texas; Reward Increases to $80,000

The manhunt for Francisco Oropeza, who allegedly shot five of his neighbors, has begun in Cleveland, Texas. The state’s governor, other counties, and the FBI have already contributed a total of $80,000 to reward anyone who can help locate the suspect.

Reports say the shooting incident happened on April 28 near the town of Cleveland, north of Houston, Texas. The suspect’s neighbors allegedly walked up to his fence and asked Francisco Oropeza, 38, to stop firing off guns. However, Oropeza argued that it was his property and walked up to the front door of a neighbor’s house with a rifle.

According to Martinez, the victims of the shooting incident were identified by the Honduran Foreign Ministry. The deceased include Obdulia Molina, 31; Sonia Guzman, 28; Diana Velasquez, 21; Jonathan Caceres, 18, and Daniel Enrique Lazo, 9. To date, the relationship of the victims is not yet determined, but reports say they were all living under the same roof.

Manhunt for Francisco Oropeza

An article in Fortune states that on April 30, James Smith, the FBI Houston Special Agent in Charge, and Greg Capers, the San Jacinto County Sheriff, held a press conference to provide the latest updates in the manhunt of Francisco Oropeza. Capers announced that there are more than 200 police officers searching for Oropeza, to date.

In addition, Capers stated that Greg Abbot, the Governor of Texas, offered $50,000 as a reward for the capture of Francisco Oropeza. Other counties of the state also contributed $5,000, while the FBI offered $25,000 for the reward. To date, the amount of reward money has increased to $80,000.
