The negligence made by the company apparently allowed hackers to have access to personal information including Social Security numbers.An article in Top Class Actions states that Don Roberto Jewelers has not admitted to committing any wrongdoing, but they have agreed to pay $4 million in settlement to resolve the allegations regarding the data breach. Don Roberto Jewelers is a company known to have an online store and 98 physical stores all over the state of California.
Don Roberto Jewelers Settlement Eligibility
According to Lawley, to be eligible for the settlement of Don Roberto Jewelers, a customer must have had an address in the files of the company between February 16 and March 3, 2021. In addition, the customer must be able to provide proof that they have suffered damages or spent funds because of the data breach.
The maximum amount of payout is expected to be up to $5,750 per eligible recipient. $5,000 worth of payout will be given, along with the seven hours of lost time at a rate of $25 per hour. In addition, a customer who is located in California is entitled to additional payments. These payments may be worth $75 up to $750, depending on how many customers will claim them.
Furthermore, eligible recipients will also be given 3 years of free identity restoration services and identity protection from Aura. However, interested customers can have only until June 26 to submit their claim forms online.
