Gun Control Protest in Tennessee
An article on the NBC News states that the Republican lawmakers, along with Speaker Cameron Sexton, believed that the Democrats attempted to incite an insurrection. However, Pearson argued that he and his fellow Democrats were only forced to violate the rules of decorum after the Republican supermajority allow anyone to speak during the gun control protest.
Furthermore, reports say the members were removed of committee assignments after the demonstration. Johnson stated that she expected a sanction for the violation, but she did not see the expulsion coming.
