Kaivon Washington, 18, one of the four suspects accused of raping Madison Brooks, 19, has been arrested for another rape case. This case stated that Washington sexually assaulted a 12-year-old girl in 2020. One day after Washington was released on bond for Brooks’ case where he was charged with third-degree rape, he was arrested again for first-degree rape.

According to Geanous, Washington was 15 when he allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl. The girl was reportedly on her way to an apartment complex in Livingston Parish in May or June 2020. The girl stated that Washington took her towel off and raped her for around 30 minutes inside an apartment. The girl was reportedly taken to a hospital, but Washington denied the allegations. The case went cold for more than two years until a witness came forward this January 27.

However, Washington’s lawyer, Ron Haley, mentioned the timing of the witness who came forward. Haley stated that Washington and his mother cooperated with the investigation two years ago. The witness coming forward recently is raising concerns. This is because not only of the timing, but also of whether it was a reasonable ground to arrest Washington.

Not An Isolated Case

According to Eberhart, Washington, along with Everett Lee, 28, Casen Carver, 18, and a 17-year-old were charged with the alleged rape of Brooks earlier this January. Washington and the 17-year-old were charged with third-degree rape. On the other hand, Lee and Carver were charged with principle to third-degree rape. This means that they have witnessed the rape but did not participate in it.

The suspects reportedly left Brooks on the side of a busy highway where she was hit and killed by another vehicle. Court documents and a medical examiner stated that Brooks suffered from multiple traumatic injuries. Two passersby pulled over to try to save Brooks, but unfortunately, she died in a hospital she was taken to. Haley, however, insists that Brooks exited the car on her own accord. He stated that a video showed Brooks getting out of the car and that authorities mentioned her blood alcohol level was quadruple the legal driving limit.
