California Receives $400 Monthly Payments Under Coachella Immigrant Program

Eligible residents of California are receiving $400 worth of monthly payments under the Coachella Immigrant Families Recovery Program. Selected recipients may use the money however they want.

Starting on the first week of January, 140 families in Coachella, California have been set to receive $400 worth of monthly payments for 2 years. These payments were given to families who did not qualify for COVID-19-related assistance like the Child Tax Credit program. Furthermore, these payments are due to the Coachella Immigrant Families Recovery Program which is intended to help immigrant families with low income. The program has been made possible after the partnership between Coachella City and the non-profit Mission Asset Fund.

According to Weiss, the applications for this program have already ended in November 2022. However, approval of the applications only started on December 27, 2022. Applicants have been notified whether they have been approved or rejected through email. Approved applicants receive their payments via direct bank deposit payments or prepaid debit cards.

Who were qualified for these payments?

According to Weiss, those who have qualified for the program have met the eligibility criteria and have submitted documentation to provide validation for it. The eligibility criteria require an applicant to be a resident of Coachella, California, be 18 years of age or older, own a recent, non-expired, and government-issued photo ID, have at least one child aged 17 or younger who lived with them in 2021, earn no more than $75,000 or a household income less than $150,000 in 2021, have been excluded from any COVID-19 assistance in 2021 to 2021. Only one person per household has been allowed to apply for the program.
