Dead to me is an American television series which has black comedy created by Liz Feildman and premiered on May 3 2019, on Netflix. The series was renewed for another season in June 2019 and released on May 8, 2020. The series has won awards like 71st Primetime Emmy Awards and 72nd Primetime Emmy Awards. In July 2020, the series was to make a third and final season which got delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The third series is finally released on November 17 2022. Let’s review the previous two seasons to enjoy the third season without memory glitches.

Dead to me is a story of friendship which blooms between the characters Jen and Judy. Jen is a widow, her husband recently died, and she is a real estate agent in Laguna Beach, California. She is trying her best to come to terms with her reality that her husband is no more through therapy, exercise and any other healthy coping mechanism. Her grief bursts into people as anger and resentment, which leads her to join a grief support group. Jen misses her husband, who a hit-and-run driver killed. In the support group, she meets Judy, whose fiance died from a heart attack.

The twist in this fated friendship is that Judy is the hit-and-run driver who killed Jen’s husband. Judy was driving as she was grieving her fiance breaking up with her. The two characters must face their grief as well as maintain their friendship. Jen finds herself in darkness, while Judy uses her grief as a cheerful disposition. Their different outlook on grief helps them bond in a deeper relationship. The unravelling of each of their partners opens doors between Jen and Judy.

Christina Applegate plays the role of Jen Harding, the main character whose husband, Ted, was killed by a hit-and-run driver at the beginning of the series. The main character is Judy, who meets Jen in the grief support group and quickly becomes friends. Judy’s role is played by Linda Cardellini, who is known for her role in Scooby doo, freaks and geeks, and so on.
James Marsden plays the role of Steve Wood, Judy’s emotional abuser, and her ex-fiance, a lawyer with connections with the Greek Mafia. Max Jenkins plays Christopher Doyle, Jen’s real estate colleague and friend. Sam McCarter plays Charlie Harding, and Luke Roessler plays Henry Harding. Jen’s older and younger sons are strong characters in the plot.

Season one ends with Jen unable to forgive Judy and to hold on to Ted’s gun, which sends Judy’s confessions to Perez. Judy attempts to mend things between the two by giving all her money to Jen. Judy then returns to the place where Ted died and tried to kill herself, but she can’t bring to a conclusion. She receives a call from Jen, and both women find Steve’s dead body floating in the pool.
Season two ends with Judy and Jen visiting Lorna to buy Jen’s mortgage and then drive the car Charlie gave her. The vehicle then meets an accident with another car which happens to be caused by drunk Ben. Ben leaves quickly with Judy and Jen injured but alive.

In season one, a friendship between Jen and Judy is introduced. Jen is a widow, her husband recently died, and she is a real estate agent in Laguna Beach, California. Her grief bursts onto people as anger and resentment, which led her to join a grief support group where she befriended Judy. By the end of the season, Jen finds out that Judy killed her husband, and she can’t forgive her for this mistake.

In season two, we realize that Jen did not kill Steve, and it ends with Ben hit-and-running Judy and Jed, who lay unconscious but alive.
