The warmest June–August on record for the Earth recently ended. Records-breaking summer temperatures are revealed by new data

According to fresh data from international experts at the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) and the Copernicus Climate Change Service, the year thus far is the second-warmest on record behind 2016, when there was a strong El Nino- Climate catastrophe . Reports from USA Today.

  • At almost 70 degrees (F), August had the hottest monthly average ocean surface temperature ever recorded. The monthly value of the Antarctic sea ice was 2% below average, which was a record low for August- Climate catastrophe .
  • According to the National Weather Service, extreme heat is predicted to last through Friday in Texas and neighboring states as well as through the weekend in the mid-Atlantic and northeastern United States.
  • Storms get stronger when the ocean water is unusually warm. By the weekend, Tropical Storm Lee is expected to intensify into a major hurricane that is extremely dangerous. Reports from Salon.com.
