Survey Reveals Half of Gen Z Voters Admit to Lying About Their Votes

According to a new Axios Vibes survey conducted by The Harris Poll, nearly half of Generation Z voters—48 percent—report having lied about their voting choices to people close to them. This figure is significantly higher than the 23 percent of registered voters across all age groups who admitted to doing the same.

The survey was conducted from October 22-24, just weeks ahead of the upcoming Election Day, which follows a tumultuous and highly polarized campaign season. The 2024 general election includes crucial Senate and House races, along with a contentious presidential race between former President Trump and Vice President Harris.

In the Axios and Harris survey, 22 percent of registered voters indicated they might lie to someone close about the candidates for whom they cast their ballot in the 2024 election, while 78 percent stated they would not. The heightened polarization of this election cycle could lead some individuals to either remain silent or misrepresent their political beliefs when discussing them with friends and family.

Current polling averages from The Hill/Decision Desk HQ show Trump and Harris separated by a slim margin of just 0.6 points. The Axios Vibes survey included responses from 1,858 registered voters, with a margin of error of 2.6 percentage points.
