Ohio Community Rallies to Find Missing ‘Young Davy Crockett’ and Beloved Dog

On Wednesday, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office received a distressing call that no parent ever wants to make. A mother discovered that her adventurous three-year-old son had wandered out of the yard with his best friend, a dog named Gidget.

Realizing that her son, affectionately dubbed ‘Young Davy Crockett’ by deputies, was missing and not responding to her calls, the concerned mother quickly dialed 911 for help.

In response, deputies, firefighters, and neighbors arrived at the home with SUVs and UTVs to begin searching the area. Their efforts paid off when Deputy Nathan Stuckey reported that he had found the toddler and his canine companion.

Fortunately, both the boy and Gidget were primarily unharmed, with only a few scratches from briars incurred during their adventure.

Officials want to remind parents and caregivers that when a child embarks on an impromptu adventure, every second counts. It’s crucial not to hesitate to call for help in such situations.

The Harrison County Sheriff’s Office expressed their relief at the positive outcome and commended the first responders in the community for their diligent efforts to locate the missing child. They noted that what was likely one of the scariest moments in the mother’s life was overcome thanks to the dedication of the community’s responders.
