Jeffrey Clark’s Attempt to Shift Georgia Racketeering Case to Federal Court Denied by Judge
Former Department of Justice official Jeffrey Clark, a co-defendant in the Georgia racketeering case tried to move his case to federal court but lost that bid. According to Washington Examiner, U.S. District Judge Steve Jones decided that federal court didn’t have jurisdiction over the case of Jeffrey Clark.
This ruling came just before another co-defendant pled guilty in Georgia bail bondsman Scott Hall.
This case stem from 2020 when Jeffrey Clark allegedly tried to send a false letter to Georgia officials, claiming the Department of Justice had election concerns. He argued he was acting in his official capacity, but the judge disagreed, saying the letter’s content was outside his federal duties.

Fulton County DA Opposes Jeffrey Clark’s Bid for Federal Court, Echoing Past Challenge by Trump’s Ex-Chief of Staff
Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis opposed the move of Jeffrey Clark to federal court, as it could benefit co-defendants with a more Trump-friendly jury pool and a non-televised federal trial. The decision to keep Clark’s case in Fulton County Superior Court followed a similar unsuccessful attempt by Trump’s former chief of staff, Mark Meadows, to move his case to federal court.
CBS News reported that Meadows has appealed that decision, while Trump chose to keep his case in Fulton County, expressing confidence in a fair trial.
