Hurricane Lee Continues Moving North of Atlantic, Heads Toward New England, Canada Coasts

Hurricane Lee continued to move northwest of the Atlantic Ocean as it headed toward the coasts of New England and Canada. Further reports say warnings were issued as the hurricane is likely to be experienced in the next 48 hours.

On the evening of September 13, the National Hurricane Center announced that the Hurricane Lee continued to move with sustained winds of almost 105 miles per hour northwest of the Atlantic Ocean. Further reports say that the Hurricane Lee is now heading toward the coasts of New England and the east of Canada.

According to Sosnowski, on the same day, hurricane and tropical storm warnings were issued in parts of New England as the Hurricane Lee is likely to be experienced in the areas that were warned in the next 48 hours. Nonetheless, reports say that the Hurricane Lee is now reduced to a Category 2 storm.

Hurricane Lee’s Impacts on Other Locations

An article in USA Today states that on September 13, the hurricane center further stated that storm surge warnings were also issued for the Cape Cod Bay and the island of Nantucket in Massachusetts. Meteorologist Ryan Maue also posted on X that the Hurricane Lee could also hit the city of Boston late September 15 or early September 16. In addition, heavy rainfall and coastal flooding are also reportedly possible in parts of eastern Maine on September 16.
