Up to $7,500 direct payment from a $1.3 million data breach settlement will be available to Americans this year.
What Includes In The Data Breach Settlement?
Marymount Manhattan College was sued for not doing enough to prevent the hacking of student information last November 2021. The data breach settlement of this private school in New York City comes from a lawsuit filed against the school, the U.S. Sun reported.
The lawsuit said that the school shared highly sensitive information about the students including their Social Security numbers which were believed to be hacked.
In the data breach settlement, Marymount Manhattan College denied all the accusations and any wrongdoing.
Class members who are qualified for the data breach settlement can get up to $750. This payment will be reimbursed for lost time associated with the breach and for documented costs.
Those class members who had funds stolen can claim up to $7,500. On the other hand, a $150 payment can be claimed by class members who claim neither losses nor expenses caused by the hack.
