“Narco Sub” Carries 7,000 Pounds Of Suspected Cocaine
Mexican Navy officials said that the narco sub is believed to be the largest of its kind and measures 85 feet. The seizure of the narco sub was caught on video. Five people were found and taken to La Paz coastal city for further investigation.
The video captured during the chase was posted on Facebook. The video shows helicopters trying to seize the narco sub and eventually bursting inside the narco sub and finding a large amount of cocaine.
The officers were surprised as they found approximately 186 packages of suspected cocaine inside the narco sub. The Navy was grateful for the successful operation as they achieved their goal of busting the narco sub that they believed is carrying illegally. The training of the personnel was truly one key factor in the operation‘s success.
Navy officials confirmed that this year, they have seized about 74,000 pounds of cocaine throughout Mexican waters. They arrested about 121 people making illegal activities at sea.
“Narco Sub” In America
In South and Central America, semi-submersibles like the narco sub is used by traffickers to transport illegal products to neighboring places because the vessel moves in low water, can fully submerge, and can escape detection. These are common off the coast of Colombia. Last month a vessel was intercepted by Navy officials that carries more than 5,000 pounds of cocaine. Last May the largest narco sub was also intercepted and it is the largest-ever record with 3 tons of cocaine on board.
