Oregon Couple Arrested
Oregon couple, Eastwood Mohammed Mannan, 35, and Cassie Jo Gudino, 27, were arrested on Monday after a disturbing series of events unfolded.
According to the Grants Pass police, the Oregon couple Mannan and Gudino lured Mannan’s two cousins from New York with the promise of employment opportunities. However, the victims soon found themselves trapped in a nightmarish situation.
Over the course of several months, the Oregon couple allegedly resorted to torture and instilling fear of severe physical harm to force the victims into labor, PEOPLE reported.
A police press release states, “The victims were required to give all money earned from online remote employment to the suspects.” An affidavit obtained by the Oregonian sheds further light on the distressing circumstances.
Mannan’s 19-year-old cousin was allegedly coerced into performing housekeeping tasks and working online, with her earnings forcibly taken by the couple.
Reports suggest that the victims endured cruel treatment, including being subjected to cold showers and even burned with a torch as punishment for disobedience.
In a desperate bid for help, the 22-year-old brother managed to escape from the residence on Sunday and immediately contacted emergency services. The local authorities swiftly responded and subsequently apprehended the Oregon couple at their home.
