Tuesday, New Jersey software engineer Alexei Saab was sentenced to 12 years in prison by a federal judge after he took photos of some US landmarks and provide them to the most dangerous terrorist in the world.

Alexei Saab A Software Engineer Who Photographed US Landmarks For Possible Terrorist  Attacks

Federal Judge Paul Gardephe states that Alexei Saab 46 years old a software engineer was arrested in 2019 for allegedly photographing or documenting video of several US landmarks including the White House, Statue of Liberty, and Boston’s Fenway Park as possible terrorist invasions in the early to mid-2000s. Saab has been charged with terror crimes by authorities who say he was working on behalf of Hezbollah’s Islamic Jihad Organization.

AP News reported that while in prison, Saab become a role model prisoner while serving time for helping others incarcerated at New York City’s federal jails to obtain high school equivalency certificates, learn English, and find comfort from psychological problems.

Gardephe said that in 2005 Saab separated from the Lebanon-based Hezbollah Islamic Jihad Organization, one of the most dangerous terrorists in the world. In addition, Saab manages to have a “peaceful and productive ” life in New York City despite “inconvenient facts” that made it impossible to grant the government’s request that Saab be jailed for 20 years.

Moreover, last year a jury from trial claimed that Saab is a highly trained terrorist who scoped out landmarks in America, France, Turkey, and the Czech Republic and has a double identity while being part of Hezbollah’s Islamic Jihad Organization. Prosecutors say that Saab is designed to attack Americans’ famous landmarks if Iran was attacked by the United States.

Alexei Saab Is No Longer A Threat In The Country

Alexei Saab was sentenced in Manhattan federal court on Tuesday and according to Gardephe, he claimed that Saab is no longer a threat to the community or likely to commit crimes. The judge added his statements that there were also “inconvenient validities” went against the defense arguments that Saab serve no more than ten years in jail.

Marlon Kirton the Defense attorney of Alexei Saab noted in a presentence brief that his client has transformed after arriving in America after he “began to witness the true feeling of freedom.”

Kirton said that Saab was 23 years old he “admired how Americans lived passionately and courageously” and he was determined for himself that he wanted it to happen to him as well. The lawyer portrayed Alexei Saab as only a victim of Hezbollah.
