By the end of December 2022, the Bureau of Labor Statistics stated that the Consumer Price Index (CPI) showed the annual inflation rate standing at 6.5%. Compared to the rate in November 2022, the inflation rate was reduced from 7.1%. However, even as the inflation started to drop, several U.S. states still decided to issue inflation relief payments. California
According to Lisa, in California, the Middle Class Tax Refund provides up to $1,050 to the state’s residents. The relief payments have started rolling out in October 2022 and still continue this 2023.
Colorado
In Colorado, the taxpayers have asked for the deadline for filing their 2021 tax return to be extended. The deadline for the filing was due on October 17, 2022. Fortunately, the state of Colorado continued to issue inflation relief payments of up to $750 until the end of January.
Idaho
In Idaho, Governor Brad Little has authorized for the issuance of tax refunds worth $600. The inflation relief payments have started rolling out in September 2022 but have still continued this 2023.
Massachusetts
In Massachusetts, the tax refunds amount to 14% of a taxpayer’s liability. The inflation relief payments started rolling out in November 2022. Those who have filed a 2021 tax return before October 17 last year should have already received their tax refunds in December. However, those who will file until September 15 this year will be given their tax refunds a month after.
New Mexico
In New Mexico, individual filers can still be given tax refunds worth $500. Joint filers, on the other hand, will receive $1,000. The filers have only until May 2023 to submit their 2021 income tax return and qualify for the inflation relief payments.
