According to Arias, Ricks was taken to the Nash County Sheriff’s Office where she made no statement. Ricks is now being held at the Nash County Detention Center with no bond. She faced charges of first-degree murder and criminal child abuse with serious injury due to the death of her 8-year-old granddaughter. Ricks’ first court appearance was scheduled last February 9 in Nash County District Court. However, it is not certain whether Ricks has kept an attorney to speak on her behalf.
