The new SNAP benefits in New Jersey will continue in March after state Gov. Phil Murphy signed the legislation into law.
New SNAP Benefits in New Jersey
Some residents in New Jersey will continue to enjoy the new SNAP benefits after Gov. Phil Murphy signed the legislation into law earlier this week. The new SNAP benefits nearly doubled from $50 to $95, according to a report published in STUDENTLOAN.LIVE.
Even though some residents in New Jersey will see some reduction in their SNAP benefits but implementing the newly signed law will help ease the impact of the impending end of emergency Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
However, not all will receive the new SNAP benefits in New Jersey. The state will prioritize seniors and those with disabilities. If Gov. Phil Murphy did not sign the new SNAP benefits, around 770,000 enrolled in the program will be heavily impacted in March.

New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy Released a Statement
In a published article in ABC7, Gov. Phil Murphy said, “As the federal government’s temporary boost to SNAP benefits comes to an end, we cannot ignore the significant impact this will have on households and communities throughout our state.”
He also added, “No one should ever have to wonder where their next meal will come from. By implementing a minimum monthly SNAP benefit of $95 for all beneficiaries, New Jersey is leading the nation in ensuring families have the support they need to keep putting food on the table. While we may be the first state to do this, it is my hope we will not be the last to put these critical protections into effect.”
Furthermore, Gov. Phil Murphy is hoping that New Jersey is not the first and last to have new SNAP benefits as the federally funded program will end in March.
