Stimulus Payments

The U.S. economy has suffered from the COVID-19 pandemic, problems in the supply chain, and the rising inflation. Fortunately, the federal government has provided the Americans with different types of relief programs such as tax rebates, stimulus checks, debt relief, and many more. However, most of these programs have already come to an end. Only a few programs, whose payments have been approved in 2022, will continue to be issued in 2023. According to some experts, a recession is projected to happen in the U.S. The Congress may once again approve other types of relief, but it is no guarantee, as reported by Rosenfeld.

Delaware

According to Rosenfeld, in Delaware, the state offers a relief rebate program. Residents aged 18 and older who have filed income taxes in 2021 are eligible for the one-time payment worth $300. Those who have applied in early 2022 should have had received their checks already last May or June. However, those who applied as late as December 31 may expect to receive their checks from the Delaware Department of Finance in 2023.

Massachusetts

In Massachusetts, the state had a $3 billion excess last 2022. Therefore, the excess was decided to be issued to the residents in the form of tax rebates. Applicants who have filed in 2022 should have had received their tax rebates already. However, residents may still apply on or before September 15, 2023. Those who apply by that period will receive their tax rebates within a month after filing.

New Jersey

In New Jersey, the state still offers property tax rebates through the Affordable New Jersey Communities for Homeowners and Renters (ANCHOR) program. Eligible homeowners can receive $1,000 to $1,500, while renters can receive up to $450. The applications for the program are needed to be filed with New Jersey’s Division of Taxation. The deadline for filing is on January 31, 2023.

Pennsylvania

In Pennsylvania, the Property Tax Rebate program is still ongoing. The program has offered benefits to senior residents since 1971 where a rebate of property taxes or rent paid is issued to them. The maximum for standard rebates is $650, but those who are qualified for additional rebates can receive up to $975. To be eligible, homeowners must have an annual income limit of $35,000 and $15,000 for renters. Applications must also be filed with Pennsylvania’s Department of Revenue by December 31, 2023.

Virginia

In Virginia, individual taxpayers who are eligible will receive $250 worth of one-time bonus tax rebates. On the other hand, joint filers will receive $500. Most checks were already issued last September. However, some checks may still be issued in the early 2023, as reported by Rosenfeld.
